Creative Labs SoundBlast

Does anyone know if Creative Labs will ever update their driver so it will
work on Vista?

It's a weird link that you may have to copy and paste. It also seems to
expire after a while, but you can easily find it yourself on the Creative
site.

RE: Creative Labs SoundBlast

Well you have Sound Blaster so it's too late. This company has always spit in
the face of it's customers and done things at their own leisure and whatever
incompatible way they could hack it out.

My advice is next time you need to upgrade your hardware go with a
motherboard that has Dolby-Certified 5.1 or 7.1 support. Intel has a couple
out. Most modern motherboard have good sound support and now with the new
Vista you will be surprised at how good it sounds.

Save your money for companies who respect you and forget about the likes of
Creative Labs.

Re: Creative Labs SoundBlast

I have the X-Fi Xtreme Audio. I purchased it because I saw that Creative had
a driver for Vista. However, it has not worked for me. At one point Vista
'recognized' the card but I had many issues when running WindowsMediaPlayer,
IE, Bluescreens, etc. I reformatted my HD and reinstalled. ( I have disabled
the motherboard sound). Vista worked fine with no errors. I reinstalled the
drivers and this time Vista did not recognize the card and would not install
drivers. Well, I cannot return the card to MicroCenter. I must look to
Creative Labs for help.

My next step would be to put the card in a different slot. However, I feel
like I am working blind with no support from the vendor. What do you think?
should I just give up? Or, should I continue by moving the card to a new
slot? I am really frustrated as many features simply do not work if there is
a problem with the audio.

Yes, trying another PCI slot would be the first thing I'd do. You might
want to see if there are any BIOS updates for your motherboard as well.
Check out the Dell forums to see if there have been issues with Vista.
