Notebook monitor can not turn on after lid reopen

I installed Vista ultimate on a sony notebook.

In the power options, I set 'do nothing' when i close the lid, and it really
works except that when i open the lid again, the monitor can not turn on.
All I can do is to press the power button to restart the note book. Why this
could happen and what should i do? This had never happened when i used xp on
the same notebook.

Re: Notebook monitor can not turn on after lid reopen

Many notebooks switch to external video out when you close the cover. Have
you tried whatever key sequence it is on your notebook to switch between
external and internal? For instance, in my laptop, it's the Function button
along with the F8 button.

Dale

Re: Notebook monitor can not turn on after lid reopen

This is a Windows Vista driver problem, to fix it do the following;
1. Open ”Computer management”
2. Open “Device Manager”
3. Expand “System Devices”
4. Right Click “ACPI Lid”
5. Click “Update Driver”
6. Click “Browse Computer”
7. Click “Let me pick from a list on my computer”
8. Un tick “Show Compatible Hardware”
9. Scroll to the bottom of the right hand box and click “Volume Manager”
10. Click “Yes” when Windows prompts you with security warnings
11. Reboot when Vista prompts you to do so
