data recovery

I did a back up of my outlook pst to a dvdr and after installing vista and
office I put the dvdr back up in for a restore and all of the infromation
disc was automatically sent to the trash and deleted. Is there anyway I can
restore the disc? When that same disc is put into the drive it wants to
reformat?
