| Family Offer... Hey folks, I know everything is new and just coming around, but here goes. I am going to buy the 2 family licences for upgrading my two laptops. That's a done deal. The offer states you use the media you purchased from Ultimate that's fine. I am purchasing (waiting for it to get here) Ultimate Full version (I ordered the full version because I wanted to do a "clean" "custom" install). Now here is my question, if I insert my full edition DVD and boot from it and install Home Premium when it asks for my Key will it accept it and let it continue on OR will it deny my install? Question number 2, if I don't enter a key when installing and completely install and get to the desktop THEN enter my key will it accept it and let me go on my way? I know I am not going to get answers right away, and I can deal with that as I have a few days before I will get my DVD, but hopefully someone from MS will create a FAQ or something to help those of us who need some info. I would call MS and ask these questions but I am sure there is probably a 4 hour backlog of calls from newbies asking questions.. LOL |

| Re: Family Offer... Bucko21: You will use the Ultimate PK to install Ultimate on 1 computer. With the Family Package you will get 2 PK for Home Premium to be used on the other 2 computers. The Vista DVD has all versions the product key determines what version is installed. Also Vista x64 and Vista x86 have a separate DVD. Have a great day. -- Dennis Pack XP x64, Vista Enterprise x64 Office2007 "Bucko21" <none@none.com> wrote in message news:%23PiWjFMRHHA.1908@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl...[color=blue] > Hey folks, I know everything is new and just coming around, but here goes. > I am going to buy the 2 family licences for upgrading my two laptops. > That's a done deal. | Re: Family Offer... Thanks for the reply Dennis, Thanks for the info but maybe I didn't ask my questions correctly if I am buying a upgrade licence how is it going to work with a full install version? I guess the best thing for me to do is wait till some people buy the family licences and see what they say. Thanks though for the info.. :) "Dennis Pack" <dennispack********.nospam.com> wrote in message news:44CD1477-7DEC-4CEE-BB8F-C4A95F2213B9@microsoft.com...[color=blue] > Bucko21: > You will use the Ultimate PK to install Ultimate on 1 computer. > With the Family Package you will get 2 PK for Home Premium to be used on > the other 2 computers. | Re: Family Offer... Bucko21: The Vista Ultimate upgrade version qualifies for the Family Pack. The upgrade version is the same as the full version, the only difference is that a qualifying operating system has to be installed prior to performing the upgrade. -- Dennis Pack XP x64, Vista Enterprise x64 Office2007 "Bucko21" <none@none.com> wrote in message news:%23ASyd4NRHHA.3996@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl...[color=blue] > Thanks for the reply Dennis, Thanks for the info but maybe I didn't ask my > questions correctly if I am buying a upgrade licence how is it going to > work with a full install version? | Re: Family Offer... Also note that you can do a clean install from an upgrade -- but you must start it from a current os or you must run the install twice (first with no key, then with the upgrade key). Important point - you can no longer boot off the new disk and proove you are upgrading by pointing to a previous install disc or currently installed version.
