| Windows Vista Upgrade From XP Question Hi everyone! I've recently found that my copy of Windows XP is not genuine. My concern is: If I get Windows Vista UPGADRE Version, will it turn my operative system genuine? The new Windows, even If it is an UPGRADE, comes with a new serial number?? I'd appreciate your answers. |

| Re: Windows Vista Upgrade From XP Question An upgrade version of Windows Vista will not install on a computer running a non-genuine version of Windows XP. In order to resolve your problem, you'll need to purchase a "Full License Version" of Windows Vista and perform a "clean install". -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "night_wolf" wrote: Hi everyone! | Re: Windows Vista Upgrade From XP Question As Carey says. And this MSKB will guide you as to all upgrade options--that includes upgrading from pre-Vista XP and upgrading from one Vista edition to another. In order to use an upgrade for Vista, you must first have a *legitimate legacy OS installed and activated and you upgrade from it. This is firm in Vista. All things considered, you'd be better off just buying a full retail version of Vista. If you have XP Pro, buy the Business Version or Ultimate. -Michael |

You'll need a full edition of Vista. -- Rock [MVP - User/Shell] |
