Windows Vista Upgrade From XP Question

Hi everyone! I've recently found that my copy of Windows XP is not genuine.
My concern is: If I get Windows Vista UPGADRE Version, will it turn my
operative system genuine? The new Windows, even If it is an UPGRADE, comes
with a new serial number??
I'd appreciate your answers.

Re: Windows Vista Upgrade From XP Question

An upgrade version of Windows Vista will not install on
a computer running a non-genuine version of Windows XP.
In order to resolve your problem, you'll need to purchase a
"Full License Version" of Windows Vista and perform a
"clean install".

Re: Windows Vista Upgrade From XP Question

As Carey says. And this MSKB will guide you as to all upgrade options--that
includes upgrading from pre-Vista XP and upgrading from one Vista edition to
another.

In order to use an upgrade for Vista, you must first have a *legitimate
legacy OS
installed and activated and you upgrade from it. This is firm in Vista.

How to install Windows Vista (See upgrade section of this MSKB)

Good luck,

You cant' use the upgrade version.

All things considered, you'd be better off just buying a
full retail version of Vista. If you have XP Pro, buy
the Business Version or Ultimate.

No, to use an upgrade version of Vista to upgrade XP, XP must be installed,
activated and genuine. You'll need a full edition of Vista.
