Folder Permission Issue Hi, I'm logged in on an administrator account, yet I can't access the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Everest Poker\history I get the windows message "C:\Program Files (x86)EverestPokerhistory is not accessible. Access is denied."" I've tried "Taking Ownership" of the folder using a registry tool i found on google, to no avail. I've been told that I can solve the issue by turning off UAC, but I'd rather not compromise security if I don't have to. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Re: Folder Permission Issue Looking for the same answer for other files. Turned off UAC but it did not allow access. Right-click > Properties > Security Click on Yourname\Administrators and check that you have full control , if not select ' Edit.. ' and try and give yourself full control.

Re: Folder Permission Issue Hi, Click start and type "Windows Explorer". Right click the entry that appears in the start menu, choose 'run as administrator'. Using this elevated window, try accessing that folder. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org Vote for my shoe: http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "fretallack" <fretallack.3xh6dx@no.email.invalid> wrote in message news:fretallack.3xh6dx@no.email.invalid... > > Hi, > I'm logged in on an administrator account, yet I can't access the > folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Everest Poker\history > I get the windows message > "C:\Program Files (x86)EverestPokerhistory is not accessible. > Access is denied."" > I've tried "Taking Ownership" of the folder using a registry tool i > found on google, to no avail. To view its security properties, you can try taking ownership of the object. As the owner, you can also control who gets permissions on the object...." Then I am given a GUI interface that is supposed to allow me to take ownership, but doesn't. Under "current owner" it says "Unable to display current owner". So it seems pretty clear that the "take ownership" tool I used has failed. Can someone explain to me how to do it using the command prompt? I've read about cases where this works when the GUI doesn't. Thanks again. fretallack

Re: Folder Permission Issue So I ran windows update, and after the updates had installed the folder I was trying to access was just gone! Really weird, but actually OK by me. I just recreated the folder, and now the application that uses it can access it fine. Thanks for all your help guys.
