| Auto start of IE tab group Is it possible to automatically open several web pages as a tab group when Vista starts - using IE8? I have had three web pages in my startup folder, and with IE7 these usually ( but not always) started as a tab group. With IE8 on Vista (and Windows7) the three web pages appear as three separate Internet Explorer windows sessions. -- Michael Chare |

Opening multiple pages when IE starts should be setup the same way in IE8 as in IE7, regardless of OS. You go to Internet Options, which you can find either under Tools on your IE menu or under the Windows Control Panel, and type in your home page(s) on the General tab. You can enter multiple home pages, which should load on separate tabs. If you're asking about loading web pages as a one time event, different from your home page(s), there should be a way to do that also, which could be a bit more technical. |

Let me restate my question: When the PC finishes booting, I want it to start IE with a tab group of three web pages (which are three different weather forecasts that I like to watch). If I start another IE window I would want it to begin with a single blank Tab. -- Michael Chare |

The simplest way to do it is to put some entries into your start-up menu entry. Try this: Right Click on the Start Menu button and choose "Explore". This will put bring up an explorer window looking at your start menu. Start MSIE and navigate to the page you want to load at logon. Drag the icon to the left of the URL in MSIE to the Start-Up folder in the Explorer. Repeat for the other links. Make sure you use the Start-UP folder, not the main start menu folder. |
