Test a keyboard?

Suppose I wanted to test my keyboard to make sure the computer can
read all the funcition keys and so on, without typing weird characters
or causing things to happen in Windows. I just want to make sure each
key works. What can you recommend? Nothing that came with Vista
would seem to do this.

Thanks.

Press each key in while in notebook?

How do you test that a door knob works? You try it!

Who could say - maybe it'll be a lesson learned.

I think if everyone Googled for their problems this place would be rather quiet!

And the thing that is almost amazing is just how often a "hit" is the answer
or, if not directly, at least leads you to one.
Google is truly your friend<g>

Google often has the answer except:

1) When Google doesn't have the answer. Someone called me today from
916-830-4347. Google doesn't know who that is. They left a message and
didn't say anything.

2) When Google has multiple answers for the same question. Which one is
right? Microsoft actually did that to me last night. I found a red X in my
windows event log, clicked the MS link for help on what it means, and found
a page with a note from MS that doesn't seem to say anything useful along
with a couple dozen responses including multiple "fixes". You can't just
try them all if one of them is potentially harmful.

That is a funny site.
Of course that just gives you Google results, which all seem to point to the
same shareware program, which is fine if you like trial software and sucks
if you want a free solution.
The simplest way to check the keys is to write a program with keypress event
processing.
