extending a partiton


i have a partiton with XP installed on it, and a partiton with vista
installed on that.

i want to extend the partition xp is installed on, but will it delete
that partition?

wasnt sure if this is an xp or vista issue.

Will what delete what partition? Extending a partition in XP requires 3rd
party software. To extend it you need unallocated space to extend it into.
Always have a full and complete backup of important data.

As an addendum Vista has tools to change partition sizes non destructively.

Partitions in Vista can only be extended if the available space is located to
the right of the partition to be extended.
If such is space is located to the left, then it cannot be added.

I believe you can do it from a command prompt with the Diskpart command.
