Maybe it's your settings. I can still access that reply. I do occasionally
click on new posts which instead of showing get a line drawn through with a
removed from server message.
I also frequently see some responses to troll posts where the troll's post
never showed up. At least one thread has ray responding to himself many
times, each time with another post quoted between.

Nothing in my settings would allow that to happen.....at least not that I'm
aware of. When I boot into Windows 7 and read this group I see messages
that don't appear in Vista and don't see messages that do appear in Vista.
Go figure..... Maybe I'll load XP and check using good old OE.
