| font size I am totally responsible for this problem. Months ago I edited the registry and either modified or deleted a line regarding font size. Since then all my html messages use size 12 in Windows Mail, Live Mail, or Yahoo Mail. I can specify the use of a different size, but as soon as I type anything, the size reverts to 12. I can change any other attribute such as face, bold, etc. and they all work. I would like to reinstall Windows Mail but I understand that's not possible as it's inseparable from Vista. I've run sfc /scannow and there are no problems. The only solution that seems possible it to fix or replace that registry line I screwed up. Any suggestions very much appreciated. |

| Re: font size What I would do is go into the registry and delete [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Mail] and let Mail recreate the default settings. *** "Tom" <tom@unknown.com> wrote in message news:FRs8m.382338$4p1.365338@en-nntp-03.dc1.easynews.com... >I am totally responsible for this problem. > > Months ago I edited the registry and either modified or deleted a line > regarding font size. > > Since then all my html messages use size 12 in Windows Mail, Live Mail, or > Yahoo Mail. > > I can specify the use of a different size, but as soon as I type anything, > the size reverts to 12. > > I can change any other attribute such as face, bold, etc. and they all > work. > > I would like to reinstall Windows Mail but I understand that's not > possible > as it's inseparable from Vista. > > I've run sfc /scannow and there are no problems. > > The only solution that seems possible it to fix or replace that registry > line I screwed up. > > Any suggestions very much appreciated. > > > > > |

Try adding the values or deleting the key to get it rebuilt as suggested by DaveD. |

Deleted Windows Live and Windows Mail. Rebooted. Found Windows Mail display at some sort of default, but working. Clicked on Create Mail. Arial size 10 was set as the default. Increased default to size 36. Large blinking cursor appeared. Started to type and the size changed to 12 in the size box as well as in the actual display - all by itself. Restored registry. Thanks anyway guys. It was worth a try. tom |

| Re: font size If you go to Tools/Options and select the Compose tab, are there default fonts specified? I've modified mine to Verdana and don't have the problem you described. Just an idea that you might try setting/resetting the defaults (including default size) and see if that helps. Have you got any antivirus programs interfering with e-mails? |

Used it here for the first time. Resolution went back to some kind of default. Trouble was exactly the same. I've been using AVG for years without any problems of this nature. Disabling their e-amail scanner did not help/ |
