There's a lot of overlap of the same files. It is definitely possible to fit "more" than the specified capacity of a disc. In fact, there's been an all in one (AIO) edition of Vista since 11/11/06. It has every edition from Starter to Ultimate, N, x86 and x64, all on one disc. The ISO is 4,651,550,720 bytes, which fits just fine on a standard 4.7GB DVD disc. Yes, it's an unoffical "scene" release, but Vista is mostly useless unless you have a valid Product Key. As to why MS didn't package it all on one disc: too confusing to endusers. Most users aren't aware of the challenges of x64, so they make you take an extra step to install it. Mach <snip> |
