| About Frank & Peter These are a couple of pests. I was searching for certain tech info and they came up dating back to 2007. I was astonoshed. These 2 fellows, or one under 2 names, were insulting, offensive and ultimative since several years ago as far as I cared to check. So it's not new here, they've been posting on other Forums. Why does MS allow them to keep MVP title as they alienate people to th eleft & right, for YEARS. Almost every answer from them is an insult mixed with sarcasm, and standard suggestions to download Ubuntu this year, and back in 2007 Frank was raving about Macs. Three years ago a person is asking a legitimate queston, Frank declares a question not worth solving, and suggest "I thought you like Macs?" - an obvious hint "if you don't like Windows, switch to Macs". Frank is a bona fide idiot, and a useless MVP. |

| Re: About Frank & Peter Frank Always Uses Bad Language When He Talks About Alias, But Alias Is Also Partly 2 Blame 4 The Problem, Because He Is Always Posting "Get Linux Instead Of Windows" Here In A Microsoft Windows Vista News Group. As 4 Me, My Dad Told Me 2 Get Rid Of Linux (Do 2 It's Security Problems With Cuba, North Korea, And Iran Using Linux), Or My PC Will Go In Our Next Garage Sale, So I Did Exactly What He Said And Got X64 Windows 7 RC Build 6.1.7100 From http://www.windows7.com, And Then Got Windows XP Mode Beta From That Website As Well. | Re: About Frank & Peter This was an intelligent response, thanks! As of Iranians, they're very smart peoplesplagued by bad climate (hot), which is alos the reason American South is poorer than North. But I believe they do use Windows in addiiton to Linux because they're so many engineers in Iran - they have no problems cracking any software, it's common knowledge that in Russian & CHina not 10, not 30, but a whoipping 95% of software i spirated because of 2 factors: a) they have brains b) they have no money. It's a deadly combination, when smart people are pressured they get things for free. And that is why we must enforce stiff tariffs on imports from those countries until they start enforcing copyrights. I was born/raised in Russia and still keep Russian passport just for the history, even though a US Citizen since 1999. I hate them for this piracy because if we were stealing from them, we'd be even; but we don't We don't crack their software whcih they do create a lot, we don't emulate their spacecraft, optics & heavy machinery. There's respect for trademarks in USA, not in Russia or China. I know Ruissians form INSIDE, they're pretty sleek in cracking. There's a silver lining in this however, it's not as bad for USA as seems, because... these people immigrate here (like myself) in hordes and strengthen US economy with inventions and design/etc engienering work. Do you know how Microsoft depends on ASIANS working fo rthem here in the States? So if they steal some, they also contribute some; bu tof course they steal more than contribute. |

I think it's a stretch to suggest that. Correct me if I missed something specific. |

| Re: About Frank & Peter I acknowledge certain level of hacking and stealing and pirating in each and every country, and of course, unless someone can provide a solid evidence to prove EVERY person in a stated country is a criminal, or will it be a prejudice for using any generalized statement? Can you prove anyone in the states has not cracked their software and vice versa? So you do support generalization in a way to stimulate hatred among different countries? I did get the feeling that he was saying hacking is very prevalent in those countries. I know that is definitely true in Russia and China. Not everyone is a hacker, but they certainly have a very high number of them. China is also a major (and I mean major) source of counterfeited software. So, he's accurate on that point. I've never studied Iran and the software situation there. |

| Re: About Frank & Peter I have been lazy lately so I have not seriously read any security reports. But based on my memory, a few years ago several reports indicated that a large number of hackers and spams were originated from some of those mentioned areas. However, later reports also found out that those were incorrect since many of those systems were comprised and were used as a bridge and the real hackers might not have originated from those areas. I guess you should know what is bridging. So, I would appreciate if any of you can provide substantial data, such as comparing spams and hackers originated from different areas/countries before making these claims. Or it's another of your "feeling" which happens to be his too? Also, I am not trying to defend for China and won't deny it is one of the largest "sources" of counterfeited software (and other products) in the world, but who are buyers? Buyers are scattered around the world including the US. It's back to the same old question: Who should be blamed for buying or selling illegal products including drugs? You would say that it's the seller and I would say - BOTH. We need to fight against crimes and criminals not against nationalities, and the later is what you and the OP proposed and I am one of those for the first. That is the difference between us and that is what I call a prejudice. | Re: About Frank & Peter One more thing, if you are fighting against nationalities, you have no allies and you are fighting a losing war. If you are fighting against crime and criminals, you have the whole world to be your allies. I thought the choice is simple and why do you want to follow a proven failed example? | Re: About Frank & Peter +Bob+: My last reply for this discussion: I think you should know my point too. We have more than enough conflicts and wars around the world, and we all are in the toughest economic time in history. We can try to magnify the differences between people and to create additional conflicts (and that's how I see his posts are for) so we all collapse together. Or, we can try to see the similarities among people and work toward the mutual interests, so we could make things a little bit better. I replied to the OP simply because I vote for the second option. And that is about it. | Re: About Frank & Peter I SUGGEST YOU GET FACTS, NOBODY IS PAYING FOR SOFTWARE IN CHINA & RUSSIA. YET WE BUY THEIR SH** IN SUCH QUANTITIES, WE DESTROY OUR HIGH-TECH/WHITE COLLAR JOBS, NOW NOT JUST BLUE COLLAR MANUFACTURING OK MR. IGNORANT? AMERICANS ARE SO STUPID SINCE LATE 1990'S, THEY DIGGED THEIR OWN ECONOMIC GRAVE, THEY BUY FROM COUNTRIES WHO DON'T BUY FROM AMERICA BUT ONLY STEAL, STEAL, STEAL!!! I WORKED IN SOME RUSSIAN OFFICES WHERE EVERYTHING, I REPEAT EVERYTHING IS PIRATED, EXCEPT VODKA!!! |

| Re: About Frank & Peter You're a typical naive American idiot. You're being robbed daily, but you know what? I DONT CARE ANYMORE, IF A MORN WANT'S TO DESTROY OWN ECONOMY SO BE IT!! AT LEAST I'LL BE WELCOME BACK IN RUSSIA WITH THAT PASSPORT. I am telling you they steal software from here, they steal period! In China it's upward to 92%+, it was 99%. Back in the day when WindowsXP rolled out in US stores, it was sold for $2/disk like donuts on the streets of MALAYSIA. Cracking $29,000 software like AWR Microwave Office, or $50,000 like AGILENT ADS is not as hard as you think when government is passive. Why? because Chiense & Russian government WANT it to happen, they want to steal. How to stop? SImple. STOP BUYING THEIR SH** AND FLOODING WALMART WOITH CHEAP PLASTIC CRAP MADE IN CHINA. |
