OK. Lets put this to bed.

If you install the old drive in your present computer you will have to make
certain that the drives are jumpered correctly or they will not work
together. Type drive jumpers into Google and read about the topic.

Then you can transfer only DATA from the old drive to the new drive - not
programs. Do you know where you want to put the data on the new drive?

Then, when the data has been transferred you can delete the partitions on
the old drive and create a new single "logical" partition. Type partition
types into Google and read about this topic. Then you can use the old drive
as you wish.

When I tried that I kept finding articles about little pants suit
things.

Lol, that's easy! Inside!

If you keep your data on the outside of the drive it slides off
when you move it.
