Also note the "system type" and report back to us. If you don't have a minimum of 2 GB or RAM you will have a very slow machine. You should have at least 3 GB of RAM to have good speed. If your "system type" is a '32-bit operating system' having more than 3 GB is a waste of money. 64-bit operating systems can used more than 3+ GB, but the 32-bit can not effectively use more than 3 GB. Having lots of programs starting, and running in the background, will slow the startup significantly. You can go to "Windows Defender" in your start menu and then choose "tools" from the Defender menu. On the tools page choose the 'software explorer' option to get a list of what programs are starting when the computer boots. Most of them are not required to be running all the time. Give us a list and we will suggest which ones to disable. (You can always start them manually from the start menu when you want to use them). Also, temporary files slow the computer down if not cleaned up. Go to START - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup and with the box checked for temp files, run this tool to clean up old temporary files left on your computer. |
