USB devices that prevent booting etc

The User's Guide to my new Toshiba USB flash memory has this warning:

<quote>
Performing the following operations with the Product connected to a PC
may cause improper function on your PC:

- Booting
- Rebooting
- Resuming from standby or suspended mode.

Please disconnect the Product from your computer before performing
these operations.
</quote>

I've been experiencing this for some time now but this is the first
time I've seen it in black and white. Having *any* USB device
connected prevents my laptop (Vista) from rebooting, which is an
annoyance.

Many computer BIOS now have options to boot from USB devices.
If you have a USB drive device that does not support boot options, you can hang the computer.
Check your BIOS settings for this option.

Re: USB devices that prevent booting etc

Some computers have the problem. Some don't.

Toshiba is just covering their butt.
