| Re: ITunes If Colin says ITunes has caused Vista problems, I don't doubt it, but I haven't had any problems that were Itunes/Vista issues and I think Colin is being optimistic if he thinks Itunes is going to mod another build for Vista's sake. I guess the motivation would be the Imusic store, and the little fact that 97% of boxes are Windows boxes, but right now only 10% of Ipod purchasers are using it. Try the first part of this and see if it helps you, Greg: CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive appears to be missing after you install Windows XP or Windows Vista http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320553/en-us If you see any of the filter values, delete them. So it would be foollish for Apple to not write a Vista-compatible version of iTunes. With that said, now that I've done a clean install of RC2 (X64), it's working just fine. -- Scott http://angrykeyboartder.com A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. | Re: ITunes Scott-- I couldn't agree with you more. I think there should be no compatibility barriers, and aplaud the people who are using both Windows and Apple--and some Linux for that matter whatever their reasons. I haven't had any Itunes/Windows issues for several builds of Vista, although it does get a little tricky on a dual boot keeping the Itunes straight. Anything they do to enhance Vista compatability or quell Vista issues is a plus. | Re: ITunes I use iTunes extensively and have never had this problem. Although it did happen once while using Nero 7 (which I don't think is vista compatible anyway), so I would guess it isn't an iTunes problems Bryan "Greg Zygadlo" <gzygadlo@msn.com> wrote in message news:2163C31B-0DAD-44D4-BA6F-6F88515396A0@microsoft.com... >I have the latest version of itunes ,but everytime I install and then >reboot the machine I lose my CD ROM Drives. | Re: ITunes That's interesting Troy. I hadn't heard of "GEAR." I haven't had any trouble at all on several builds of Vista with Itunes or using the Ipod (you don't need an Ipod of course to use Itunes) back through September when I started using it--and often use Itunes over WMP to play ripped music. But I wonder if you cann't selectively uninstall gear since you do have many alternatives for bufning cds on Vista--which comes with WMP that can burn them. I guess there will be a "Vista compatible" version of Itunes but I consider it Vista compatible now. I don't think you'll see MSFT giving Itunes a seal of approval although there could come a time when the Zune team wises up and drops all their current awkward compatibility barriers. I outlined the current Zune's shortcomings twice on this group in considerable detail.
