RE: Windows 7 upgrade

Windows 7 RC is out now, but it will begin to be restricted in March 2010.

Then it will cease to function completely a couple of months after that.

There is NO free permanent Windows 7 Upgrade

Re: Windows 7 upgrade

I think it would be an operating system rather than a Vista update.

Re: Windows 7 upgrade

It is not an Update/Upgrade to Vista.

It is an entirely new Operating System.

It will be on sale, hopefully, before Xmas; or early in the New Year.

You will have to BUY it.

Cheers.

That will depend upon whether or not MS makes such an offer. It did
when Vista was about to be released... because its release date was to
be AFTER the Christmas season. To help the sale of new computers at
the time, it offered free upgrades to Vista for a brief time after the
actual Vista release date.

Re: Windows 7 upgrade

I know its new OS, you will buy new Netbook vith Vista and format the drive
for install of W7.
Yes you will pay for new PC and old SW (Vista) but the option to install W7
is free.

I think either MS doesnt know the exact day of realize this option for new
customers.
Isnt?

The Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade Program Rev. 3.0
http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=609&pgno=1

"Windows Vista PCs preinstalled with qualifying software must be
purchased by end users between these dates:

June 26, 2009 through January 31, 2010

(Open to change, and depends on the actual release to market date of
Windows 7)

OEMs may choose to offer a shorter program period within the allowed
date range."

released to OEM on this:

That will be up to each individual computer vendor.

I think some here misunderstood your question at first but it looks like
you got the right answer, however, can I add a comment?

W7 will be able to run XP mode much better than using a virtual machine
in the conventional way but ONLY if the Processor is capable, so it that
is something you might want in the future look around and make sure the
sales person is not just selling you a machine that will run VMWare or
something.
