This doesn't make sense. MSFT has a running deal if you can demonstrate
you're a student to get Office for $59. You can't beat that.

Good luck,

CH

Sure you can. OpenOffice.org is free.

Bull**** ray, open orifice is not up to the level of Office 12, no
matter how "free" it is.
Sorry..

And it's worth every penny you pay for it.

Try opening an Access database with it.

Yes and most ORDINARY users don't even know what Access is......never mind
USE it....so that's a spurious comment, isn't it?

I don't use Access for anything. Openoffice works perfectly well
for typical real world tasks.

My brother just installed Ubuntu and the first thing he did was test
Open Office 3.01 with a data base he made with Access. Worked perfectly.

Perhaps you, too, should test before you stick your foot in your mouth
again.

Yeah, it will work with mixed results. Anyone that says openoffice works
the same as Office, has obviously never used Office. There are many
differences and they don't work the same nor do they open the same files
the same way.

I rather doubt many 'students' require Access database.

It is obvious that your brother is also an idiot. First, he is usinb
Ubuntu, the INFERIOR OS that NOBODY wants. Second, he is using Open Office
which is technology about 10 years back. Third, adding two records to a
database isn't a test.

My brother has been into personal computers since the first ones came
out. He's MS certified, webmaster and programmer. He installed Ubuntu
because HP is taking its time to send him a copy of Vista due to the
hard drive in the laptop going south one week after he bought the
machine. So, he emailed me and asked where to get Ubuntu. So far, he's
quite pleased with it and intends to dual boot with Vista when HP gets
around to sending him the disks. I assure you that his data bases are
something you could NOT understand and far from "two records", a story
you made up like you always do when you're totally refuted.

I'm not many students (at least when I'm on my meds), but I did need Access
when I took a course in databases.
