He couldn't google ubuntu? He has to email you! Hilarious. He won't be able to install a dual boot. Doubt he can get both boots on the correct feet. |

What other distro did he think you would recommend? Sure its your brother? Is he a genius in the way "Rain Man" was a genius ? He's a programmer, a web developer, has had a 'puter since the '70's, yet had to ask YOU for advice? He's either a moron, or you tell lies just for the hell of it. |

OpenOffice.org is free. Open Office is a great project, and everyone should be aware of it. The entire open source movement is a fantastic resource and to be commended. But Open Office is a much different piece of software than Office from MSFT, and there are still a lot of people who buy Office on their OEM pcs, who would do much better if they knew about the student offer. I wish I had been able to buy Office for that price when I was in school, and that there were cute little netbooks or notebooks with SSDs in every pot then. For 97% of the population that wants to word process a document, it probably contains enough features. It would have saved me an infinite amount of time and lugging heavy books from the library. It's also useful in a pinch to know that MSFT has offered a 60 day free trial of Office Pro for downloading and all it takes is an internet connection to http://office.microsoft.com Considering the power that gives you with a few mouse clicks compared to what we had back in the day, that's a good deal. | Dual boot Linux and Win7 or Vista Piece o Cake "Vlad-the-Impaler" <vlad@headsonastick.ow> wrote: > Hilarious. > > He won't be able to install a dual boot. > Doubt he can get both boots on the correct feet. Why yes_you_can: Dual booting Unbuntu or any Linux with Vista or Triple Booting any Linux with Vista and Win7 is (how you say in the country where Redmond Washington is) is "piece of cake". iess how you say no problemo and iess here below pic or how you say screenshots to how you say "jist do it man." Sometimes you Remove the NeoGRUB entry. Close EasyBCD. Restart EasyBCD and then add it again. But this time choose the partition after you do check the box for GRUB is not installed to the MBR. Step-by-Step Ubuntu, Vista Dual-Boot Pictorial http://neosmart.net/wiki/display/EBCD/Ubuntu Best, CH |

As for your help , I use GRUB to control 6 different OS's. My current favorite is fedora. Why would I need neoGRUB or EasyBCD ? I know how to use bcdedit.exe and how to add entries to GRUB. I leave my grub intact and manually add new install kernel lines. You learn by doing it the hard way. :) |
