I've read many of them. Feel free to believe whatever you want. As I
said, I completely disagree with you.

I like PCTools antivirus for Vista. I also use Threatfire and Firewall
from PCTools. All free.

You need to know what you are talking about.

So you would go out and buy the most expensive Anti-virus solution out
there, based on the assumption that because it costs the most it must be the
best?

As Ken said, two of the worst performing suites are those produced by Norton
(Symantec) and McAfee, both of which you pay lots of money for. Neither of
these will protect your PC as well as Nod32 or AVG, and most of the
"features" you mention are gimmicks which slow down your PC and are
completely unnecessary.

You're digging a deep hole for yourself. Either that or you are very
gullible on advertising.
I use NO antivirus programs whatsoever, never had a virus, and have NO
computer problems.

What and how? Haven't had a virus since the first IBM DOS system.
How many have you had, and more importantly how did you get them?

I don't get viruses. That doesn't mean I don't run into them. They
will be sent to you in emails from people you know and trust who
aren't careful. You will run across them at reputable web sites that
have been compromised. I run into the occasionally; my A/V program
stops them before they are a problem.

Running without an A/V makes you a disease carrier on the 'net. You
should do your civic duty and install an A/V.

Re: Antivirus software for Windows Vista

All those virus programs do is screw up XP or any OS. Keep your computer
clean, use safe hex, don't click on
unknown things and you won't get a virus. They may be in e-mails but if you
don't click on unknown items in e-mail you don't get a virus.

So what happens when someone you know, sends you a document and that
document is infected? It happens.
