Vista always wakes up 6 hours after sleep

Hi,

I haven't found an answer to this one through searching.

Vista Ultimate on my ThinkPad T43p is waking up exactly 6 hours after going
to sleep. It will not stay in hibernation or sleep for more than 6 hours.

Put it to sleep at 10:45am and it's up at 4:45am on the dot, etc. Put it to
sleep at 12:15am and it's up at 6:15am on the dot.

I've not found any scheduled tasks that seem to run to cause this. I've not
started/configured media center. I've checked my power settings and I've
disabled hibernation after sleep for all power schemes/modes.

Needless to say, this is fairly annoying. Of course, it never happened on
Windows XP.

Thanks for any ideas/help you can provide.

j.

I'm having a similar issue with my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop, running Vista
Home Premium RTM. Every morning at 3AM it will wake, and not go back to
sleep no matter how long it idles. Normally, it will go to sleep after 30
minutes of inactivity. Like you, I could not find any scheduled task that is
causing this.

Re: Vista always wakes up 6 hours after sleep

John--

I usually wake up 6 hours or less too so I can relate. I wonder if there is
a setting in the IBM power manager you need to check so it's consistent with
Windows Power Management. Sometimes hibernation in Vista won't work
correctly or be available after you run the disk cleanup tool.

Don't forget to set up your power profile either in Windows or in the IBM
Power Manager if you're using that application to manage power profiles.

What is it you're trying to set as to power or sleep on the T43P? Maybe
these links will help.

If you're using a mobile PC, your plan appears under Plans shown on the
battery meter. If you're using a desktop computer, your plan appears under
Preferred plans. The plan that you based your new plan on is moved, and
appears under Additional plans.

To prevent the mobile PC from going to sleep during presentations

. Expand Sleep, expand Sleep after, click On battery or Plugged in, and
then click the arrow to change the setting to Never. You can also type the
word Never in the box.

RE: Vista always wakes up 6 hours after sleep

I had similar problem. I had to turn off all scheduled system hard drive
defrags. Vista was waking up to defrag the hard drive.
