Outlook 2007 stops working on Vista

I have installed Office 2007 onVista and it worked great for 2 weeks.
Suddenly, whenever I start Outlook 2007 it stop working after 10 seconds.
I have this entry in the event viewer:

Faulting application OUTLOOK.EXE, version 12.0.4518.1014, time stamp
0x4542840f, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp
0x4549bdc9, exception code 0xc0000374, fault offset 0x000af1c9, process id
0x1608, application start time 0x01c73629626e43f0.

Other office applications works great.
I tried uninstall/reinstall office but it didn't solve the problem.

Any idea how to solve it ?

Re: Outlook 2007 stops working on Vista

Did you try "Microsoft Office Diagnostics" located under "Microsoft Office Tools"?

Start Menu>All Programs>Microsoft Office>Microsoft Office Tools>
Microsoft Office Diagnostics

Re: Outlook 2007 stops working on Vista

If you're using OL with Exchange then a whole other set of issues come into
play. If not:

1) There have been Adobe issues with the Beta and RTM Office. I haven't
had them. Turn off the Adobe plugin in Outlook by going to Tools/Trust
Center and disconnectiong Adobe from Outlook. Simply go to tools > trust
center > add ins, and then at the bottom of the screen select COM Add-ins
from the drop down menu box, and hit the go button. From the next screen
deselect (remove checkmark) PDFMOutlook.

2) Try holding down Ctrl key when you start OL--functionality used by most
should be available in Safe Mode.

3) Disable Outlook integration from Adobe (Add/Remove Programs, Change)

Outlook 2003 and earlier versions seemed a lot more tolerant of pst file
corruption than 2007 is. I'd like to know why. I haven't had problems with
Office 2007 yet, including its Betas but a number of people have. Many
types of crashes if repeated will corrupt Office 2007. (and .ost files if
you are using exchange caching), and if Outlook doesn’t figure out and
automatically repair it on startup, you will get into a start crash loop.
Use the scanpst.exe and scanost.exe files (office default install
location/office12 directory, not the weird 1033 dir they used to be in), for
which outlook must not be running (and Yahoo desktop search, and other
things that access .psts must also be stopped). Once your .pst(s) / .osts
are repaired, Outlook should not only start OK again, but if you have big
..psts, it will probably run a bit better too. AN alternative for repairing
an .ost is also renaming it (for backup purposes), and letting Outlook
recreate it based on what is stored on exchange (you will lose almost
nothing, what you do lose may be a couple of view settings like shortcuts to
folders)

Re: Outlook 2007 stops working on Vista

I don't have the Com Addin PDFMOutlook.
I have repaired the pst file but Outllook 2007 still closes after 10
seconds.

Maybe is has something to do with the faulting module ntdll.dll ?

Any other idea ?

Re: Outlook 2007 stops working on Vista

YA--

I'd make sure of any helpful errors at Event Viewer and also the help is
superb on the Outlook groups with multiple MVPs and Outlook experts
including 4-6 Outlook book authors who are regular prolific contributors.

Are you getting the faulting module error near or at the time that OL
closes? This may sound a little off the wall but based on some past
expriences make sure that if you ever had BCM (Business Contact Manager)
with OL 2003? I've seen similar problems when people have installed OL 2007
and certain files are not deleted despite using Add/Remove to uninstall the
previous OL or Office edition because Add/Remove remains as long as the MSFT
campus remains a very erratic utility.

For some reason whatever Vista team(s) work with Add/Remove have done very
little to improve its capability over the years and through many Operating
Systems including the current one they call Vista. I doubt it will change
with whatever Blackcomb is called in the next 4-6 years. Device Manager
can't tell you ever whether a driver is trashed and yes I mean Windows
signed drivers as well and Add/Remove is an erratic little puppy. I have
also seen this problem when the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility is used
and I always use it on an Office or major uninstall.

Go here and make sure that if you have this file you shift+delete it:

C:\Windows\System 32\IrisM32.dll. or whichever file path depending on what
volume or drive the
problem is located on.

Re: Outlook 2007 stops working on Vista

Have tried unchecking any add-ins that are in Outlook?

Tools>Trust Center>Add-ins

I bet something there is causing as problem.
Have you installed any new programs that may
have added an ad-in to Outlook?

Was this an upgrade of a previous Office version?

Re: Outlook 2007 stops working on Vista

Try this:

http://blogs.msdn.com/rgregg/archive/2006/09/11/749882.aspx

To Disconnect an Misbehaving Add-in:

1.. Start Outlook. If you cannot start Outlook because an add-in is causing it to crash
immediately, you should be prompted to disable the add-in (in B2TR or later builds), otherwise
use the command line outlook.exe /safe to boot in safe mode.
2.. From the Outlook window, select the Tools menu, and then Trust Center.
3.. Click on the Add-ins tab, and then click the Go button at the bottom of the page.
4.. Disable one or more third party add-ins listed in the dialog. If you were directed here
from a crash report, you should have seen information on which add-in was responsible for the
crash. Find that add-in and uncheck the box next to the add-in.
5.. Click OK.
6.. Restart Outlook.
