Restart ReadyBoost on reboot?

Hi, all: I have a question I hope someone can help me with. I have a 1Gb
SanDisk memory stick in my Vista Enterprise box. I'm able to successfully
start ReadyBoost manually but when I reboot the computer, ReadyBoost doesn't
start automatically. I've checked the ReadyBoost service and it indicates
Automatic, which would lead me to believe it would restart by itself on
reboot.

Any suggestions for how I can get ReadyBoost to restart itself on reboot
without me having to do so "by hand?"

Much appreciated.

Jeff

Re: Restart ReadyBoost on reboot?

Does it start if you remove and then replace the flash drive? This will be
obvious in the file system of the drive when you insert it because
readyboost automatically benchmarks drives. Does it give you a "use this
device as readyboost" autoplay option when you insert the drive?

Re: Restart ReadyBoost on reboot?

No. It thinks it's another drive. It sees all the space and gives me no
problems loading the USB driver for it but doesn't go through the steps of
asking if I want to make it "ReadyBoosted."

That proves nothing. This message can appear but ReadyBoost will not
function due to performance issues with the flashdrive.

Re: Restart ReadyBoost on reboot?

I posted a message here on December 11 about exactly the same problem. I've
never figured out the answer - sometimes the cache gets created, sometimes
not. Interestingly, my flash drive is also a SanDisk 1gb (Cruzer Micro).
Maybe it has something to do with this particular flash drive. I have now
switched to another brand (an ATP Petito), and I haven't had any problems
with it (yet).

RE: Restart ReadyBoost on reboot?

Sandisk Cruzers, amoung others, have U3 hidden partitions on them that
prevent readyboost from remembering your settings. You need the U3 Removal
Tool to get rid of it and then readyboost will remember your settings on
reboot. However, you have to decide if you really want to permanently delete
these features from your drive.
