Vista Home Preimum and Windows Live OneCare

Is it true that Windows Live OneCare will not work with Vista??

If that is correct what can be used in place of OneCare with Vista??

Are their any programs being developed that would allow OneCare to work with
Vista??

Would greatly appreicate replies from MVP's and people who are knowledgable
in the Microsoft world.

Thank You!!

The latest version of OneCare (1.5) works fine with Vista. It's still
in Beta but you can get it from the OneCare site.

It works with Vista x86, but not x64 yet.

Re: Vista Home Preimum and Windows Live OneCare

Tom --- Thank you very much. I saw the Beta on the web site but did not read
far enough that it worked with Vista. Been using current OneCare since
inception and like it very much. Works prefect and have never, repeat, never
had a problem.

There is *no* x64 support for Windows Live OneCare at this time. There has been
no announcement as to when it might be available, beta or otherwise. The current
1.5 beta will work on Vista 32 bit or XPSP2. You can get it at
http://ideas.live.com - don't activate it yet if you have a subscription to
OneCare already. If you are running 1.1 on XPSP2, do not upgrade that PC to
Vista until you remove OneCare 1.1 completely.

Re: Vista Home Preimum and Windows Live OneCare

Stephen -- Thank you for the informationa and guidance. I do not plan to
upgrade to Vista on this computer, even thought I have great speed and power.
It is about 4-1/2 years old and currently running XP Pro SP2 and working
fine.

Want to upgrade to Vista if and when the initial bugs are worked out and at
such time as OneCare is available for the 64bit. I'm not in a rush, but
getting a bit anxious to purcahse a new system, however I will wait until
OneCare is ready and Vista has some real world activity with new users.

Been an obsesive PC user ever since they first came on the market many years
ago, but am considering switching to Apple. Still giving that a lot of
thought as i'm almost 70 years old an not sure i want to ventrue into the
world of Apple, but from all of the things that i can read, Apple is deemed a
much SAFER system.

Thanks again for your information --- Larry

Re: Vista Home Preimum and Windows Live OneCare

One Care version 1.5 has RTM'd and will be widely available at the Vista
launch at the end of this month.

Very compatible with Vista also! :-)
