Strange Folder Icon Overlay

I have a folder that I made to install Photoshop plugins, so that they can
be used with different versions (CS2 and CS3 beta) and so that I don't have
to reinstall after reinstalling OS.

I was wondering why a strange overlay has appeared on this folder?

The folder is "shared".

Hi back at you, sir. You still haven't replied to my question about the
trick to installing Nero without it destroying the thumbnail view of .mpeg
files. What's the secret ?

Every time I've installed it it messes up my thumbnail view of .mpeg's, and
I get the COM Surrogate Error. I'm a big fan of Nero myself, I've used it
for as long as I can remember. It really stumps me as to how they can say
it's "Vista ready" on their website, and installing it causes these
problems.

I assume you mean the thread "CD Burner software". I can only see your
reply to Colin Barnhorst. Can anybody else see this post? I wonder how
many other posts don't get through to me.

I have not seen this error myself. Quite a few movie files on my streaming
media server do not appear as thumbnails in Vista, but I thought that was
due to there being some codec problem. I have not noticed Nero make any
difference in this regard. But as I had hear about Nero doing this, I tried
some fix that didn't do anything. I have never got this COM Surrogate
Error.

Yes, that be the one.

Well, I downloaded it again, closed both eye's and hit install. It's working
this time around !

Same version that's caused me problems the last three or four times I've
tried it. Didn't do anything different that I'm aware of, but regardless,
it's working without the error's, and I still have my thumbnail view of
..mpeg files ! Thanks for your input. That registry fix I'm sure will come in
handy. I will run Nero for a few days and see what I come up with. I'm still
somewhat in shock that it's even working.

Thanks again !

Ah well, I've spoke to soon. I now get a "Runndll32" error when accessing
folders with lot's of video's in them. I've not lost my thumbnail view this
time around. But a horse's arse !

Something's not finished here with Nero. It's keeps tossing "debug.txt" into
a Temp folder on the C:\ drive.

This is what's inside of "debug.txt".

Retrieve the wished language list for this application from NeroNLS and try
all the languages

I agree, but I haven't had any problems myself.
