| Vista 64 freezing when I plug in USB drives after resuming from Hibernation Hello, I am having this problem with Vista 64 bits and an HP dv5t laptop that came with the OS pre installed. When I plug in USB devices such as USB thumb drives, or even USB external hard drives (which have their own energy source) the computer completely freezes. I have noticed this always when the computer has resumed from hibernation. I can plug in the devices after a fresh boot and they do not cause any problem. Also, if I plug in the devices BEFORE resuming form hibernation (when the laptop is completely turned off) and then resume, the devices work OK and the system often does not freeze. Sometimes it freezes when it's 99% in the process of resuming. However, in those instances, I simply force a shutdown with the power button, then power on the laptop, Vista tells me that a previous resumption attempt failed, I instruct it to reattempt and the laptop resumes without freezing. I have run Windows Update and the laptop is up to date. The HP health monitor also is run frequently and does not find any updated drivers. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance P.S. There is no event logged about this and there is no problem reported related to this by Windows' "Problem Reports and Solutions" |

| Re: Vista 64 freezing when I plug in USB drives after resuming fromHi Hello, I did not see the post, and because of all the messages from Vista's Windows Mail saying that my message might not appear if I did not open an account with Microsoft Discussions or something like that, I assumed the post was not successful. I then used Mozilla Thunderbird to post the second time given the message did not appear yet. Does that sound reasonable to you or are you paid to yell users and need to justify your existence in the payroll? | Re: Vista 64 freezing when I plug in USB drives after resuming fro I already explained you it was not an abuse. Your reaction, on the contrary, was too harsh.
