Maybe it's native to some of my applications (e.g. Editpad, winedt). When I click on file, Open, I get a window that says "open" or "open file". It is split in two, with a left column that lists vertically some folder icons (desktop, computer, networks, ...). The right column and main part of the window lists the content of a folder. I was wondering if there was a way to add an icon in the left column to point to a specific folder, without having to navigate. However, that type of "Open" box is not used on Vista. -- Asking a question? | Re: Add folder in "Open" window? Hi Daniel, If you're referring to the "favorite links" section of Windows Explorer, then no, that's not customizable (though I would like it to be). Instead, all you can do is expand the lower "folders" section to get the entire directory tree. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Daniel Royer" <daniel@royer.ch> wrote in message news:%23WfAyOJdJHA.3792@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > Hello! > > Open window: any idea how I can add a folder in the left margin, where > there are "recent places", "desktop", etc..? > > daniel > > --------------------------- > Daniel Royer > University of Geneva > daniel at royer dot ch |

| Re: Add folder in "Open" window? Wow, what was I thinking....Yes, you are correct. It is customizable, you can simply drag and drop folders into that section. I think for some reason I was thinking about the layout of the navigation pane itself and whether or not you could remove that section and not the folder tree. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Gordon" <gordonbparker******.com.invalid> wrote in message news:OzdUdjKdJHA.5960@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > "Rick Rogers" <rick@mvps.org> wrote in message > news:uQTYshKdJHA.4124@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >> Hi Daniel, >> >> If you're referring to the "favorite links" section of Windows Explorer, >> then no, that's not customizable (though I would like it to be). > > It's customizable here - I can add and remove links.... > > -- > Asking a question? > Please tell us the version of the application you are asking about, > your OS, Service Pack level > and the FULL contents of any error message(s) |
