| Vista Update Help please. I'm running Windows Vista Home Basic with SP1. Up to the 2/12 I could download and update this via the auto download. Now all I get is a message that Windows update agent 3.0 will be downloaded and installed. It downloads but will not install I get the following message - ERROR CODE 80073712. Any help would be appreciated Clive |

| Re: Vista Update Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box. In the results area, right-click cmd.exe, and then click Run as administrator. You will be prompted to type the password for an administrator account. Click Continue if you are the administrator or type the administrator password. Then, click Continue. At the command prompt, type Sfc /scannow, and then press ENTER. The scan may take some time. Windows will repair any corrupted or missing files that it finds. If information from the installation CD is needed to repair the problem, you may be prompted to insert your Windows Vista CD. After you run System File Checker, try to run Windows Update. -- Use the "Ratings" feature. It helps the new users. Need more Answers? Try the new Microsoft Answers pages. | Re: Vista Update There is a KBase article about this exact error you can search for if you like, that recommends this action. System Restore to clear the data would be next, I agree. -- Use the "Ratings" feature. It helps the new users. Need more Answers? Try the new Microsoft Answers pages.
