After sleep needs me to press the power button to restart!

I installed sp1 on vista recently....

I now have a problem which is that when my laptop goes to sleep
I can only have it wake up by restarting by holding the power button down.

It never did this before.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like it is hibernating rather than sleeping.

Re: After sleep needs me to press the power button to restart!

Odds are you have a driver that is incompatible with SP1. Update any older
drivers to the latest and update the BIOS if a newer one is available.
While in the BIOS make sure the power options are set properly for what you
want to do. Did your machine go to sleep first with a switch to hibernation
after a period of time before? or stay in sleep. You should check your
power settings and make sure none of them got reset.

Re: After sleep needs me to press the power button to restart!

sleep has a hybrid mode... after sleeping vista hibernates

its not standby as with XP..

and it crashes

Re: After sleep needs me to press the power button to restart!

I wont touch the bios....

I tried that once a long time ago, and it destroyed my motherboard because
something went wrong!

but I will check with drivers...

I have seen them, on the sony site, I only updated the sound card driver
because that was the only one I was sure that wasn't compatible with sp1
.....

I force installed SP1 by downloading the whole sp1 package, but this was
something sony advised on the very page I found the drivers.....

Re: After sleep needs me to press the power button to restart!

If you won't update the BIOS, at least check to see if there is a newer one,
especially if it is shortly after SP1 was released. If so, check the change
log to see if any changes were related to power related issues.
