It would be up to the software mfg to update their software to work with
Vista, not the other way around.

Hi,

Short answer is no. Problem is that software installation is much more
complex than in the days of Aloha Bob, requiring sometimes thousands of
registry entries, and files placed in various protected system directories.
Back then, many programs, particularly 16-bit applications, required little
if any registering on the operating system.
