if you have any system protection stuff (usually bundled with virus/firewall software) they may
be automatically preventing it (ie maximum security noob settings).

try lowering ur pc security settings while u do it. firewall is the only program u really need
to have running anyway, virus and system monitors the likes are good if u don't know what ur
doing, or getting stuff from places u don't know. Just don't open emails with a link to
"freeporn.exe" or the likes lol

Re: Still have problems with Windows installer

There is a WINDOWS INSTALLER UPDATE.

Did you check into that?

Also it is reccomended ALWAYS to install from using install.exe or setup.exe.

If you try to install directly by double clicking an MSI file then you can
introduce problems like the one you experiencing.

Now if you DO click on setup.exe or install.exe and it create this MSI error
then the installer is in question to be the one in error.

Network admin noobs think MSI is the future replacement of install.exe or
setup.exe and they are plain flat out wrong. You can many times use MSI
directly without problems many times without error but that is not the
intention for how MSI are to be used 100% of the time. Again if you are
using setup.exe and it creates this error then also check to see if the CD is
scratched or has oily hand prints on it.
A work around to this is to copy the CD contents to an empty folder on the
computer first.

Re: Still have problems with Windows installer

Hi

I'm not sure what you mean about the Installer update, ""did you check into
that"
I run update everyday and have not seen an Installer update, is that what
you mean?

I did run from Setup.exe,

The Disk is not scratched and has no marks on it, I did try copying the
contents to the hard drive and tried installing, both with and without the
disk in the drive but it did not work, getting the error noted in my original
post.

regards
