Windows Changes Language

Hi,
I am using Windows Vista set to English by default with a Swiss keyboard.
Greek is also installed as an additional language.

Windows frequently (about every 30 mins) switches to Greek by itself.
I am sure that I am not pressing the keyboard shortcut for Greek (Alt +
Shift + 1).
I will be typing in Word or Excel and suddenly Greek characters come out.

How can I stop it doing this (aside from uninstalling other languages)?

Many thanks
Roger

I don't think you can. I had a similar problem with Vista and Office apps
switching from whatever language I was typing in, to English. The problem
was solved by setting all my installed languages to use the same physical
keyboard layout. English uses United States - International, Spanish uses
United States - International, etc. In your case I d髇't think you can type
Greek characters if Windows knows that you are using Swiss keyboard.

The problem may originate in your Office apps if "Detect language
automatically" is enabled in "Set Language". If you can stand to do so,
disabling this setting may help.

Earle

Re: Windows Changes Language

Dear Earle,
Thanks for your suggestions.
I will experiment with it.

It doesn't work to specifiy a Swiss keyboard under the Greek language as the
latin characters come out.

So for now, I have rearranged the settings so the Greek keyboard sits under
English UK language, together with the Swiss keyboard and have deleted the
Greek language setting (I only use it for maths, not grammar checking).

I will let you know how it goes.
Thanks
Roger

Re: Windows Changes Language

I played around with Windows keyboard configuration and Office settings.
Sadly, the problem is still there.
It also happens when no other Microsoft programmes are running, so it looks
like Office settings are off the hook and it really is a Windows issue.

Thanks for your suggestions anyway.
Best regards
Roger
