How do I make VIsta show all file types?

On any WIndows machine, about the the first thing I do is make file
explorer show file types. I can't find that in Vista. Where should I
look?

Is there a HOWTO website for common system tasks in Vista?

Thanks,.

Hi,

It's in the same location as in previous version of Windows. Control
Panel/Folder Options/View tab.

Do you mean the file extensions? Or do you mean that you want a
column that deseribes the file type?

The former is the way it was in XP so I'll assume you want the latter.

At the top: View - Choose Details.

Organize --> Folder and Search Options -> View tab.

The built in 'Help & Support' or the Windows Help and How-to at
Microsoft spring to mind as starting points.
