| Vista Basic will not display pictures, Windows wallpapers A few months ago, I bought a Dell Vostro 1000 with Windows Vista Basic. It works perfectly, except that my desktop background will not display pictures of any kind. It won't show any of the Windows wallpapers it came with, pictures from the web, or any pictures from my files. The only thing it will show is solid color backgrounds. This has been happening for about four weeks and I haven't been able to resolve it. I've noticed that, as they're shutting down, some computers momentarily display old background images. Oddly enough, as my computer shuts down it momentarily displays whatever wallpaper I last tried and failed to select. The Desktop Background menu shows that I have a Windows wallpaper selected, but it still won't display. I can select other Solid Colors and the changes will show up immediately. I've tried everything I can think of - I've adjusted the resolution and dpi, refreshed the desktop, rebooted, toggled with every aspect of the desktop display and Ease of Access center..no progress yet. Anyone have any suggesstions? Thank you in advance, Sara -- sarahoskins Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

| RE: Vista Basic will not display pictures, Windows wallpapers Try this suggestion from Brink (Shawn) "Check this setting to make sure it is unchecked: 1. Open the Control Panel (classic view) 2. Click on Ease of Access Center icon 3. Click on the Make the computer easier to see link 4. Uncheck Remove background images (where available) box 5. Click on Save" -- Paul "sarahoskins" wrote: > > A few months ago, I bought a Dell Vostro 1000 with Windows Vista Basic. > It works perfectly, except that my desktop background will not display > pictures of any kind. | Re: Vista Basic will not display pictures, Windows wallpapers Thanks so much! Oddly enough, I had tried this once before with no results. This time, when I opened Ease of Access, the box was unchecked. After some fiddling, I ended up checking it, applying the changes, and then unchecking it and applying again, and it worked just fine. Thanks again - I had ruled that out as a solution. Sara -- sarahoskins Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |
