| Office 2007 & Office 2003 Hi I am running Office 2007 & Outlook 2003 on Vista Home Premium Today I made an Word 2007 document and attached it to an email to my friend who is using Office 2003, with Word 2003 & Outlook 2003 on Windows XP Pro. When my friend opened the attachment, it was all encrypted in what we can only describe as goobly-gook, saying there was 112 pages when i only sent him 4 pages. Is Office 2007 Word not compatible with Office 2003. Or is there something that I or my friend can adjust for him to receive these attachments on how they should look. | Re: Office 2007 & Office 2003 There is a work around for this. Your friend needs to go to the microsoft website and download the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack for Office 2003. This is because by default Offfice 2007 saves files in a newer format (.docx) where as Office 2003 can only read the older format (.doc) unless you use the Compatibilty pack. You could just save your file as a word 97-2003 format document, by clicking save as, and changing the type to "Office 97-2003 document" or something similar. Anyway here's the link for the pack.. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en It's a 27.5mb file (so use broadband). It details what it does on the page. I hope this helps. | Re: Office 2007 & Office 2003 Either the file was corrupted or it has been opened as an incompatible file format. If you sent the file in the Word 2007 default docx format your friend needs to install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en "Macman2007uk" <Macman2007uk@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:5C5EDA0D-2B80-4762-8498-2D05D329E8AE@microsoft.com... > Hi I am running Office 2007 & Outlook 2003 on Vista Home Premium > Today I made an Word 2007 document and attached it to an email to my > friend > who is using Office 2003, with Word 2003 & Outlook 2003 on Windows XP Pro. > When my friend opened the attachment, it was all encrypted in what we can > only describe as goobly-gook, saying there was 112 pages when i only sent > him > 4 pages. > > Is Office 2007 Word not compatible with Office 2003. > > Or is there something that I or my friend can adjust for him to receive > these attachments on how they should look. > > Cheers > John R McNally = macman2007uk > Thursday 24 July 2008 @ 07:35 am GMT |
