i use vista ultimate 64 bit. One of the problem that I see is uncontroled
grow of unused files. Microsoft creates lot of files that never uses in
future. Also it prevents access to temporary files making it easy for
hackers but problem for me. How I can get control over file system grow.
When I setup vista I had 40mb free. Now I have 8mb free. disk clean cannot
help.

I'm sure you meant GB, not MB.

How large is your hard drive? Did you know that Vista will use up to
15% of your drive just to keep restore points?

You can change that if you need/want to.

Vista does protect itself much better than former versions, and much like
all other modern operating systems. If you can't get to a temp file, neither
can the hackers. So your concerns here are unfounded.

Vista makes shadow copies of all disk files, and can use up to 12 percent of
the disk space for them. It manages this space by itself, and if it grows
too large, it will shed the oldest sets. It is an amazing way to find copies
of files you thought were gone forever, and it is the core of the restore
point system. You can use the disk cleanup tool to eliminate all but the
most recent restore point if you are in need of more space, but for the most
part there is simply no need to try to manage this yourself. Vista will take
care of it for you. I hope you are talking about gigabytes here and not
megabytes. Vista will claim about 30 gigs in the 32 bit version, and I
suspect a bit more in the 64 bit version.

One of the options in disk cleanup is to remove the older restore points.
You have to pick it to make it happen. Just running cleanup will not do it.

protection of vista is theory. when i setup vista it worked smooth. now a
lot of web sites report error because they cannot find object. hacker can
put software which will wait reboot, time when system is not protected.

next. i said very clear. clean up does not release all space that should be
released.

Click Start and type "cleanmgr". Select which files you want to delete from
the list.
