RE: How to reformat vista to install XP

1. Go to the computer Manufacturer's website, and see if there are XP drivers
available for your model number computer.
If not, forget your idea!

2. If there are, buy an XP disk.
3. In Boot Order, set DVD/CD drive to boot 1st.
3. Insert XP disk, reboot, load files, delete existing Vista partition,
format parition, install XP!

You sound inexperienced. Are you?

You will need to have XP drivers for your computer before you
undertake your project.

One of your typical copy-and-paste replies, and in this case - which
is not an infrequent occurrence - it falls far short.

Why does it fall far short? That is one of the definitive guides to
installing XP. Perhaps you would like to point out what is wrong with it..

1) the OP wants to move from Vista to XP
2) the OP's post seems to indicate a lack of experience

His post doesn't address the issus of downgrading a Vista machine to
XP, and thus overlooks what appears to be the OP's probable lack of
awareness of the need to assure that device drivers are available for
the machine before undertaking installing XP

It would save you $$$ and time were you to outline your problems with Vista.
Somebody here may well be able to get Vista to work for you.

Installing XP requires that you research the computer manufacturer website
for XP driver availability, download them if available, copy them to
removable media for installation after XP is is installed.

You will also need to purchase XP.

It may well be cheaper to purchase a new printer, scanner, webcam or
whatever than attempt to revert to XP in a bid to keep old peripheral
hardware running..

If you do still want to go back to XP, keep a note of the web site that
Carey provided. You will need it..

Isn't it conceivable to some of you people that the OP just plain may not
like anything at all about Vista. He may have had it forced on him by a
manufacturer that kowtowed to the power of MS. I know that's exactly what
happened to me. I'd pay $300 for a copy of Windows XP Tablet edition for my
new Gateway Tablet.

Ahh... so you admit he missed the mark.

Read my earlier freaking post that preceded that one. In case you
missed it...

====

"You sound inexperienced. Are you?

You will need to have XP drivers for your computer before you
undertake your project."

====

That opened the door for the OP to admit inexperience and to post back
with questions.

Satisfied?????

This post brought to you by the letters F and U.

Mike,
On this call, I agree with Nonney. Doesn't mean we are correct, but does reflect our evaluation. You are of a different opinion.

In Carey's usual copy-and-paste minimalist manner.

I realize that he has no personality, and that he has no life away
from his keyboard... that is of no interest to me.

If the OP had taken only his post for advice, a disaster may have
occurred.
