Gonna have to install Vista

Good old Microsoft. In order for the new games to work well, they need
DirectX 10. Oh well, I knew it would be forced upon me eventually.

To achieve the full performance of DirectX 10, you'll need to
have a video card that supports DirectX 10, such as:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161203

You should also install the latest DirectX files:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

My oh my. It's amazing how you have time for your 3 companies, run 10 miles
a day, leap tall buildings, troll all day long, play computer games, and
preach Ubuntu. So after a year or more of trolling this group, you've saved
up enough euros to purchase Vista?

I have Vista sitting on a shelf. After I buy a new nVidia graphics card
and a larger hard drive, Vista will be installed so I can play Devil May
Cry 4 with Directx 10. I have plenty of euros. Next stupid question?

I don't do that anymore. Now I swim.

Never did that. Of course you know that but that won't stop you being lying.

You, Frank, "the" and Spanky are the trolls here.

So? You don't?

Um, Ubuntu isn't a religion but an operating system.

See my other post. You can apologize for lying anytime you want.

Er, if you think that perpendicular recording technology has anything to do
with it being quiet, you are wrong.

Get a Western Digital VelociRaptor for your system drive if you want *fast*.

Re: Gonna have to install Vista

Raptors are very noisy...I had one for two days
and sent it back for a refund. They sound like
a garbage disposal!

You're quite out of touch. The later Raptors with fluid dynamic bearings
weren't as noisy. And aside from the fast speed, you cannot scoff at a MTBF
of 137 years. They are essentially enterprise class SCSI drives with SATA
interfaces. I have two.

Who mentioned Raptors anyway? VelociRaptors are the new ones, and they are
enterprise class 2.5" drives from blade servers, with a SATA interface and
mounted in a heatsink housing to make them desktop 3.5" sized. They are
blindingly fast, much quieter, and have an even longer MTBF. I'll get one
for my next build (CAD workstation). You can stick with the general
consumer stuff if you want.

Untrue. I've had a 74GB Raptor in this PC for years, and it makes about
as much noise as any other PC HD: pretty quiet, esp. compared with
case fans.
