| Vista and Animated gifs What has MS Vista got against gif format - static or animated???? In XP, one can set an animated gif as the desktop file. Vista sternly responds that it is not an appropriate file format. WTF????? Who pays the wages of these shambling twisted horrors in the MS programming dungeons, who display all the symptoms of having delusions of relevance? Grrrrrrr Paddy |

There are third party programs that will allow it, or stick with an OS that not only allows it...but supports it. Now remind me - which shambling twisted horrors wrote the program code that facilitates the security risk that they now counter by crippling existing features??? AN A-N-I-M-A-T-E-D gif does EXACTLY what the name suggests. It animates. A JPG or PNG file can not show animation. Microsoft, wise up and kill the MVP program. You have a bunch of fools giving out incorrect information. How dumb is that? |

That rarely happens! |

This newsgroup is infested with no nothing dummies... many of them MVPs. Yes, we know, time moves forward. Still there are millions of people that have an extensive collection of animated GIF files. What should they do with them? It is mind boggling that Microsoft is so dumb to support them still in their IE7 browser, but refuses to animated them in their default viewer or from the shell. On second thought I shouldn't really be surprised because Microsoft has a long history of doing lame things like this. Can you explain why their browser still supports animated GIF viewing while Explorer and it's default viewer doesn't? I won't hold my breath waiting for any answer. Naturally some no nothing MVP tries to defend this Microsoft stupidity which after all, let me be honest, THAT is the real purpose of MVP's... defend the moronic decisions of Microsoft which is why they get picked, certainly not for the knowledge which you already proved is lacking. > >1) Animated GIF on the desktop would look terrible. We've moved on a bit >since ugly-looking Windows XP and Linux now. We haven't moved on at all. Same stupid people saying the same dumb things they always have. The point that zooms over your head was the original posters asked why Vista doesn't display animated GIFS properly, you only made excuses. Again, typical of the MVP crowd and why this newsgroup is joke. |

If it looked good under XP, what makes you think the same video card and monitor wouldn't do it justice under Vista? There's that sheep mentality again, take whatever is foist upon you and not question it. No wonder politicians and evangelists thrive. |

If your asylum caught fire, you would be gone, because they couldn't un-strap and un-chain you in time. I din't even think someone would even come to your cell. The crowd would go wild, as they would burn you like Frankenstein. |
