| Changing the base language of Vista Hello, I have a laptop with Vista Home Premium OEM edition preinstalled on it. However, it is in Russian and I would much prefer an English edition. My friend has Vista Ultimate Retail edition DVD. If I install that on the laptop, and type in my product key on the sticker at the base of the laptop, will it install a Vista Home Premium in English? If not, what is the best way to change the base language of an OEM Home Premium?? Thank you |

Ask Toshiba if they can supply an OEM Vista DVD or maybe even a Recovery DVD for your model. You may have to pay something for this. Or, you can hope that a friend or relative has a generic OEM Vista DVD (not computer manufacturer branded).. Or, you can buy a new one which comes with appropriate key.. -- Mike Hall - MVP How to construct a good post.. http://dts-l.com/goodpost.htm How to use the Microsoft Product Support Newsgroups.. http://support.microsoft.com/default...help&style=toc Mike's Window - My Blog.. http://msmvps.com/blogs/mikehall/default.aspx |

Thats it! Why didn't I think about this earlier! You are reflecting again! Its you who are an alcoholic and you go around saying adam or I am!!! Your liver must be black and sick just like your brain and heart! I dont drink alcohol at all sorry to break your bubble. Not wine, not beer not anything. I have more than 3 years to drink any form of alcohol and never really liked it much, accept of an occasional long drink. Sorry frank, your brain may be destroyed by drugs, smoke and alcohol abuse, and that may explain your deteriorating and crazy mentality, but my brain is getting better and better with time. |

| Re: Changing the base language of Vista Well, I tried reinstalling and found that Ultimate DVD does indeed contain all editions, including English Home Premium which is what I needed. Unfortunately - on the second boot, the computer bluescreened with STOP: 0x0000012a (0x00000002, 0x00008002, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) and message "Windows did not find any installed, licensed language packs for the system default UI language." So it looks like my key on the base of the laptop is not only contain information for Vista OEM, Home Premium but also language Russian.
