MSN

Forgive me for seeming somewhat stupid, but what exactly is MSN? If I have
a log on for the Microsoft Vista and the Microsoft Office Discussion Groups,
does that mean I have access to MSN via the same log on? Is it the same
thing as Windows Live Messenger? I need to have MSN so that my work people
can see when I am on line, and I haven't a clue what to do! If I download
Live Messenger, do I need MSN as well? Many thanks for any assistance, and
my apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place.

According to Microsoft it is this:

MSN's all-in-one Internet portal, the home of Hotmail, MSN Messenger, MSNBC News, Fox Sports, Slate Magazine and more
information you care about.
