| Battery Icon Missing? I'm using windows vista on a notebook, and today I discovered that the icon that used to be in my notification area next to the clock, that showed me how much battery I had left is missing. I've tried looking through the control panel and other areas, and can't figure out how to get the icon back. Anyone know how? Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

| Re: Battery Icon Missing? you first have to make sure that you have the SP1 for Vista installed otherwise you will not be able to change the setting in notifications properties. I had the same problem I thought I had the update but low and behold I did not. Once you install SP1 then you will be able to follow the directions that were posted earlier. Once SP1 is installed then you will be eligible for support from the Vista team. -- merijane1573 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ merijane1573's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?u=52696 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=997616 http://forums.techarena.in |

| RE: Battery Icon Missing? I've deleted some of my personal files and that sort of thing, but nothing important haha. No programs have been uninstalled. And call me stupid, I'm not very good with computers (Obviously) but what is the SP1? How could I check to see if thats installed, and how would I install it? I just got this computer in early june so I would think that it's fairly updated? haha hopefully someone can figure this out because it's pretty annoying. Thanks for the quick replies by the way! | RE: Battery Icon Missing? First, congratulations on going Vista. I migrated to Vista a year ago and like many I complained about some of the bugs and how different it was than XP. But after deciding that it was time to go forward I dove into Vista and now I see that XP is in the past. You will discover many posters whose part-time occupation is to come to this forum and complain about Vista, constantly. Ignore them. Vista is a solid OS as long as the user doesn’t damage any of its files or use crummy software that might cause damage to the system. So right off the bat I’m gonna tell you to stay away from “registry cleaners” for Vista. Now back to your problem: You’re Vista may already have SP 1 installed. Go to Welcome Center > View computer details. It may display that you have SP 1 with your Windows Vista. If not, click on Show more details. If that doesn’t work then Control Panel\System and Maintenance\System Also go here for more info on SP 1. http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...svistasp1.mspx As for your icon problem, check out this tutorial: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/10...tem-icons.html These links I found by entering questions in the Search Microsoft.com box where you will find good info, most of the time. Hope this helps… -- oscar :) ....Right click is your best friend... "BananaPancake" wrote: > I've deleted some of my personal files and that sort of thing, but nothing > important haha.
