Google on "Stereo Mix Vista" - it's been discussed to death. The short answer is
to plug in a loop cable between the line in and line out ports on your sound
card. The longer answer is to find a sound card who's manufacturer didn't cave
to Microsoft and remove that capability.

Or you can get the lastest version of Total Recorder from www.highcriteria.com
as it comes with an alternate driver.

Try this:

Go to control panel then sounds. On the recording tab right click in the box
and select "show disabled options" and "show disconnected devices". If
you're lucky you should see the Stereo Mix option and select it as an audio
recording device.
