after 9 months, Vista ate shi

when i get it reinstalled, (no the repair feature didn't work) i'll let you
know how smart i was to have a separate hard drive just for data -too bad MS
isn't smart enough to keep all my settings, email, downloads, updates (that
reminds me - i think i have to download service pack again (i'm on dialup))
high scores and program files on a separate drive -- because i DON'T WANT TO
DO THIS EVERY 9 MONTHS

The repair feature wouldn't work if your HD failed, as the repair 'drive' is
only a partition on the main one. That's why all of us need to have our data
on separate drives (I have a 500GB Firewire setup) - and a set of backup
discs, just in case it wasn't a HD failure that caused the problem. Oh, and
all our downloads saved to DVDs etc., too. Good luck with your restoration.

Why would you have to do this "every 9 months"?

One word, WinRot. Look it up on Google. Any MS-Windows product needs at
least one enema in it's life cycle.

Re: after 9 months, Vista ate shi

true, a pattern has not been established, i just deduced reasonalby that
vista will eat shi' at a rate of once for every 9 months ---- i'm still
having trouble setting it up the way i had it before i had to
einstall ----- i wonder why i spent 30$ at geek squad for a repair disk
that didn't work at all, i should just format my hard drive once a month for
a clean install........................................
