| Web cam for Vista home My Vista pc will not work with webcams in general, my son has the same pc and has not problems with the same web cam or any other web cam and software. It just seem to be my pc, is there any setting. I've tried different software and drives on my pc and have tried a life cam from microsoft and still no luck. Both pc are more then capable to cope with the job at hand. |

| Re: Web cam for Vista home Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight each USB Root Hub device, Action menu, "Uninstall", (do Not put a check in 'delete driver") then Action menu,"scan for hardware changes", to find the device drivers again automatically. -- click the Ratings button. Voting helps the web interface. http://www.microsoft.com/wn3/locales...help_en-us.htm see ''rate a post'' Mark L. First are you signed in as administrator when you try this install thing? Yahoo had this answer, good luck with this one :) control panel>devices>check enable webcam? Maybe he meant imaging device? Read the posts here http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vi...ems-vista.html One possibility is that your "Motherboard" drivers are different or not installed correctly. Are these branded PCs from a store or something you built. If the latter the manufacturer's website should have the latest drivers and possibly BIOS updates, it is maybe worth checking. Also has either machine had Vista reinstalled. Assuming these are USB webcams is your USB hub working properly? right click computer icon, then select properties, then device manager. USB is near the bottom. click the + . Any yellow ?s there? These are pretty long shots but who knows? Something different is going on. Also can you think of any "Security / Privacy" software that may have disabled access? |
