Why? It's a POS toy os that Vista will run circles around. It's
worthless...meant for those who are either too broke or stupid to run
Vista, the very best OS available today.

I seriously doubt Intel is is "in cahoots" with Microsoft on this one.
The New York Times published a piece last week say they have declined
converting from Windows XP to Vista for their many thousands of PC's.
They are only allowing a select few employees try Vista.

no kidding. Buy any high-end machine and put Ubuntu on it, what's the
point? Open Office does not work like MS Office, no matter what some
people say, you can't really game, except perhaps in emulation but why
on Earth would you want to run something in emulation that you can run
native? It would run faster and easier in a native setting. IMHO, Ubuntu
is worth what you pay for it.

Well, you don't need ANY kind of high end machine for Office*
My Celeron 400 does just fine for that kind of thing. A high end
Linux box could be used for number crunching (scientific calculations),
various simulations, as a file/application server... Just because it
won't run Crysis doesn't mean it's totally useless.

Or run it in a virtual machine. With Ubuntu it is a little easier to set up
using VMWare but there is info on the web on how to do it in VPC too.
