Startup stops at scrollbar

Hi,

I hope someone can help with this problem. When i startup my computer it has
a habit of sporadically stopping at the green scrollbar and won't go any
further. I then have to restart the computer which will run a diagnostic and
then restore the computer to when it last worked. It has no pattern of doing
this, sometimes it works other times it doesn't. I have tried altering the
programs that run at startup, nothing so far helps.

Thanks.

Computer specs?
Computer recent history?
Vista preinstalled or did you do it? Upgrade (from?)?

Offhand, I'd be looking at hardware (perhaps power supply) but without more
information this is just a WAG.

Re: Startup stops at scrollbar

Hi,

At a guess I'd say you have an impending hardware failure. Sometimes it
works, sometimes it doesn't. A big clue would be if the failure happens most
often when the system is booted "cold", meaning after a period of
inactivity.
