Just played a Windows Media file, a movie, on my Toshiba laptop (Intel
T2080, 2 gigs RAM) and the video was a series of still shots but the audio
was fine. About 45 seconds into the 60 sec movie, the video started working
fine and was synced with the audio. Tried it again and only had about 5 sec
of video at the end. I had Firefox and Windows Explorer also open. The
file plays fine on my lower powered, less memory desktop. What's up with
that?

Open the BIOS and see if you can allocate more memory
to your video adapter.

check your power management settings...make sure you're not stuck in a
low-CPU speed. I had a similar issue becuase for some reason windows thought
high-performence wasn't a proper setting for plugged in..so it kept setting
me at a low CPU speed.

if not that, update your video drivers.
