Correct spelling in menu & dialog boxes.

Is there any way to get Windows Vista Ultimate to use correct Australian
spelling in its menu's and dialog boxes??

Like Favourites instead of Favorites.

PS if you don't know the answer do not respond.

Control Panel>Regional and Language Options>Administrative tab>Change system
locale
AND `Keyboards and Languages tab`>`Install/uninstall languages`.

Re: Correct spelling in menu & dialog boxes.

Where is English - Australian?

You can't download it through Windows Update. Its not on the installation
DVD. Have they even created an en-au?

Re: Correct spelling in menu & dialog boxes.

The System Locale is set to English (Australian).

The Display Language under the Keyboard and Languages does not have an
English Australian option. All the menu's and dialog boxes, start menu etc
use English usa.

Control Panel>Clock, Language and Region>Format,Language and Administrative
is all set to English with my Home Premium

But above is the path to go to change it.

Re: Correct spelling in menu & dialog boxes.

Mick,

Open up Internet Explorer. Press Alt+C. Check the spelling of the word
Favourites.

Theres a difference between English North America and English Australia.

Thanks anyway mate.

Mike.

Hi Mike,

Short answer - no. There is only one English variant for the whole user
interface, that being English-US (en-us).

We aren't the only ones suffering - the Brits have no en-gb for UK English
either. It makes no difference if we change system locales etc. Microsoft
have not provided a non-US English complete user interface and it is
doubtful if they ever will. We do keep asking though.

Ex-Brit now Australian here :)

Hi Jane,

Thanks for your informative reply. Answered my question perfectly. I would
hope Microsoft would have the decency to eventually supply non yank
languages, if they don't we should legislate it.

Glad you made the trip.

Mike.
